Barbara Lubich

Barbara Lubich is an Italian filmmaker, sociologist and historian. She studied sociology in Trento and Dresden and in 2012 received her doctorate in Modern and Contemporary History from Goethe University Frankfurt am Main. Her artistic research extends into collaborative cinematic and performative works. Her dissertation Das Kreativsubjekt in der DDR. Performative Kunst im Kontext. 1960-1989 was published by V&R Unipress Verlag in 2014. In 2016, she started the ongoing project Letzte Schritte with Antje Pfundtner. Together with the choreographer Anna Till, she is one half of the collective TILL&LUBICH. She is co-founder of Zentralwerk Kultur und Wohngenossenschaft eG and lives in Dresden. Her documentary film Im Umbruch. Go. Stay. Dance. (2022) is an encounter with three artists from three generations: Fine Kwiatkowski, Daniela Lehmann and Cindy Hammer. The film moves between everyday life and artistic visions, art and the art world, stubbornness and community, lost boundaries and enduring values. It’s a production of the filmmaker collective hechtfilm and is currently on tour and available on VoD (2023).
