
Julia Wehren
Julia Wehren (she/her) is a dance and theater scholar at the University of Bern and a specialist in oral history at the Swiss Archive for the Performing Arts, SAPA. She has been working for many years on the question of how and in what form the performing arts can continue to exist post-performance; what knowledge can be preserved in what forms, where and by whom. She is white, is the recipient of a privileged education and is the mother of three children. She is currently researching oral history aspart of the National Fund project Auto_Bio_Grafie als Performance. She studied dance at Codarts in Rotterdam and theater, media studies and art history at the University of Bern. Until 2007 she worked as a dancer, journalist and dance teacher, and in 2014 she completed her doctorate on the body as an archive of movement. Her research focuses on oral history, historiography, artistic processes, forms of documentation, social choreographies and the history of theater and dance in Switzerland.
