Madeline Ritter

Madeline Ritter is a lawyer, cultural manager, and curator for international festivals in the fields of dance, film, and new media. From 2004 to 2019, she initiated and served as the project director of the innovative dance funding programs Tanzplan Deutschland, Tanzfonds Partner, and Tanzfonds Erbe for the Cultural Foundation of the Federal Republic of Germany. For groundbreaking efforts to preserve dance heritage, her nonprofit company Bureau Ritter received the European Union’s most prestigious cultural heritage award, the Europa Nostra Award. Bureau Ritter, through the Dance On initiative, sends a cultural-political signal against age discrimination and strengthens structures in dance with the funding programs TANZPAKT Stadt-Land-Bund, TANZPAKT Reconnect, and Next Steps, as well as European initiatives such as Dance On, Pass On, Dream On, and DanceMap. Since the end of 2024, Bureau Ritter has also been the managing organization for the program office of “Übermorgen – New Models for Cultural Institutions.” Madeline Ritter is a certified coach for change processes and a member of the supervisory board of the Kulturfabrik Kampnagel, as well as chair of the advisory boards of the Pina Bausch Foundation and the Tanzarchiv Köln.
