Peter Pleyer

Peter Pleyer studied dance and choreography at the European Dance Development Center (EDDC) at the Arnhem University of the Arts in the Netherlands. Since 2000, he has lived in Berlin with a strong interest in new methods of dance training and composition, with improvisation playing a central role.

From 2007 to 2014, he was the artistic director of the Tanztage Berlin and from 2012 to 2014, he was part of the program team at Sophiensæle/Berlin. In 2015/16, he was a guest professor at HZT/UdK Berlin.

In 2014, he successfully resumed his choreographic career with the solo “Ponderosa Trilogy,” the group research and choreography “visible undercurrent” (2014/16), and “cranky bodies dance reset” (2017/21).

In 2020, he co-founded Cranky Bodies a/company together with his partner Michiel Keuper with the goal of developing a practice of improvised group performances that bridge the gap between dance and visual art. Most recently, in 2024, they realized the performance “VIEW.POINT.MARY” about the work of the postmodern dance anarchist Mary Overlie.
