Ty Boomershine

Ty Boomershine studied dance at the Fort Hayes School for Performing Arts in Columbus, Ohio, and completed his studies with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri.

He has performed with various companies, including the Lucinda Childs Dance Company, Emio Greco | PC, Merce Cunningham Repertory Ensemble, Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, Leine Roebana Dance, Dance Works Rotterdam, and ICKamsterdam. He has also appeared in works by various choreographers, such as Yvonne Rainer, Dan Wagoner, Gus Solomons Jr., Ton Simons, and Giulia Mureddu. Additionally, he performed in Robert Wilson’s opera Einstein on the Beach. Ty Boomershine has presented his own choreographies at Movement Research and Danspace Project in New York, as well as at OT301 and the Holland Festival in Amsterdam.

For many years, Ty Boomershine was the artistic assistant to Lucinda Childs and was at times responsible for the tour management of Pere Faura and Nicole Beutler. At ICKamsterdam, he took on conceptual and organizational tasks, as well as rehearsal direction for Emio Greco, Pieter Scholten, and visiting companies. He has taught the technique he learned from Merce Cunningham at various companies, as well as at international academies and universities, and offers workshops and masterclasses.

Since 2015, Ty Boomershine has been a member of the Dance On Ensemble and took on the role of its artistic director in 2019.
