The Present is Provincial: A Lullaby for a Future Archive

Netta Weiser

During her fellowship period, choreographer Netta Weiser developed her artistic research practice around questions of dance documentation through auditory means and practices of listening.

This included further developing Radio-Choreography – a radiophonic archive of dance practices created by female choreographers during times of migration and crossing borders. As part of this ongoing project, she initiated collaborations between dance archives, radio stations and dance venues in Berlin, Tel Aviv, Cologne and Vienna. Additionally, she developed the Choreographies of Listening workshops – an experimental format for dance documentation, mediation and preservation through cross-generational dialogue, reinterpretation and experimental sound recordings.

By bringing her research initiatives to the TanzArchiv network in Berlin, she aimed to explore new common grounds between artistic work and the archive, while focusing on the entanglement of histories and the multiplicity of temporalities embodied by the archive.
