A talk between Barbara Lubich and Christoph Winkler
Christoph Winkler and Barbara Lubich talk about East German dance history, which the choreographer experienced first hand and which the filmmaker portrays retrospectively in her works. In a personal conversation they discuss the rebellious 1985 Beat Street era (when breakdance and hip hop spilled over into the GDR), youth culture and the establishment, the arrogance of the West towards dancers from the East, agitprop and the continued existence of German modern dance in the GDR – and the archive as an ’undisciplined‘ place.
The conversation took place in German, subtitles available in German.
